D.D's Natural Skin Balm

Enveloped with love, light and pure intention for healing

D.D's Natural Skin Balm soothes, nourishes and protects irritated and inflamed skin, tender nerves, muscular and joint discomfort, sprains, scars, minor burns, cuts, wounds, insect stings and bites. Great for nappy rash, fungal infections and so much more. A perfect addition to your first aid kit.

Intention is utmost!  Before entering the Ngahere ( NZ Native Bush), I quietly and respectfully ask permission through Karakia from Papatūānuku (Mother Earth) and the Pūngao (Guardians) of the Ngahere to harvest the Rongoā for my healing medicine. I only harvest what i need.

D.D's Natural Skin Balm has been created, nurtured, stirred and entwined with karakia (prayer), enveloped with love, light and pure intention for healing, with blessings from The Creator.

Ingredients:

Kawakawa (Macropiper excelsum)

Also known as the Pepper Tree. Kawakawa is a Maori rongoa and native to New Zealand. Take a closer look at her leaves next time you go for a walk into the Ngahere (NZ Bush around coastal lower lying regions).

Her leaves look like a heart with veins running through the leaves. This signature image tells me Kawakawa taken internally maybe great for the heart and cleaning the blood (boils, acne, skin complaints), digestion, worms and a general well being tonic.

Externally i use in D.D's Natural Skin Balm for properties of wound healing, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-parasite.

Calendula (Calendula officinalis)

"She unfolds her cloak each day to the morning sun to shower the world with her glorious uplifting colour bringing joy to all those who gaze upon her, from humans to bees".

Her medicine is used both internally and topically on the skin. May aid in wound healing, eczema, dermatitis, ulcers, minor burns, nappy rash, insect bites, acne, dry and cracked lips, new tatoos.

Her colour represents creativity and is the colour of the 2nd chakra.

Kopakopa (Plantain major)

Also called ribwort, pig's ear, or bandaid plant.

Not only may this versatile herb increase the speed of healing, it may also relieve pain, stop bleeding, draw out foreign matter, stop itching, prevent and stop allergic reactions from bee stings, kill bacteria and reduce swelling.

Great for sprains, cuts, insect bites, rashes, chafed skin, boils, bruises, chapped and cracked lips, rough or sore hands, baby's diaper area, and burns.

Comfrey (Symphytum officinale)

Also known as Knitbone. I've used the aerial parts i.e. flowers and leaves in D.Ds Natural Skin Balm and had great results.

Comfrey is well known and may heal all inward wounds and ruptures, bruises, sprains, fractures, broken bones, stiff and aching joints, skin complaints, insect bites, anti-fungal, lessening of scar tissue, and is anti-inflammatory.

Comfrey is a fast wound healer so please ensure wounds are thoroughly cleaned of any dirt or pus. She grows really well, thrives in moist ground and would love to spread her love, if allowed.

St. John's Wort (Hypericum performatum)

This versatile herb has magical qualities topically and may be beneficial for bites and stings, shingles, chickenpox and cold sores, nerve pain, stiff and aching joints, tired and aching muscles, minor burns, sunburns and tattoos.

St. John's Wort has been referred to as the perfume of Gods and the flower of Faeries. During the Middle Ages this herb was used to ward off demons, witchcraft, insanity and lightening! Its name is derived from when it begins to flower on St. John's Day before the Northern Summer Solstice.

Here in NZ we harvest the flowering tops in Summer.

Lavender (Lavendula angustifolia)

Most people know Lavender for her sweet smelling gorgeous scent. Its popularity as a medicine arose in the late Middle Ages and in 1640 Lavender was described by a herbalist John Parkinson as "especially good use for all griefs and paines of the head and brain".

I use Lavender in D.D's Natural Skin Balm for its antiseptic properties, healing skin wounds and burns , antibacterial, relieves pain and inflammation and insect bites and stings, muscle spasms and stiff aching joints and stimulates blood flow.

Lavender is a classic remedy for calming the nervous system, insomnia, headaches, migraine and depression.

Organic Bees wax

In this batch of D.D's Natural Skin Balm i used bees wax purchased from two lovely gentleman selling from their stall on a street in Greymouth, South Island, New Zealand.

Rice Bran Oil (cold pressed)

Historically, Japanese women for centuries have used the remnants of rice water to soften and smooth their skin.

Rice Bran oil is ideal for deeply moisturising dehydrated, flaky, delicate, mature or fragile skin. It may promote hydration, reduce pigmentation, even out skin tone, and may reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

RIce Bran oil contains a large percentage of fatty acids that are rich in Omega 6 and 9 Essential Fatty Acids, high levels of vitamin E, vitamin B. In addition, it contains a rich source of anti-oxidants, such as beta-carotene, CoQ10, and lycopene, that can shield skin from environmental and internal stressors.
